Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have a fire?

Fires are permitted in dedicated fire pits in each campsite unless the property is subject to a fire ban. Ask us in advance – we should know in advance. Fires are not permitted anywhere else on the property because of safety issues. Firewood can be purchased at reception ($15/ 25kg), and for $300 we can arrange a giant bonfire that will burn for two days if that’s your thing!

Can I collect firewood on the property?

We ask that guests only collect sticks/ kindling from Wanderlust. The collection of larger firewood is prohibited as this is a nature reserve, and for safety reasons. Firewood can be bought onsite, or you can bring your own.

Are there rivers/anywhere to swim on the property?

There’s a dam located behind reception, and a seasonal creek flows through the property, which is great for paddling. Kids must be supervised at all times.

Can we bring bikes?

Feel free to bring bikes to Wanderlust, but please make sure riders wear helmets and respect Australian road safety rules. Motorbikes are not permitted, unless this is you primary transport. Riding around the property a safety issue, but we can point you in the direction of local fire trails.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcome at Wanderlust, but please be mindful of other campers and their pets at all times. Under no circumstances should dogs be allowed to interact with local wildlife.

Is there rubbish disposal on site?

Please take all rubbish with you when you leave. Fines apply if campsites are littered – and this includes toilet waste. We can, however, dispose of cans and bottles for you as part of our eco-waste system.

Does it cost extra to bring a camper-trailer or caravan?

All camping vehicles are welcome. Simply let us know what you are driving when you book so we can assign you the most suitable campsite.

Do we have to bring water?

Please bring enough drinking water for all members of the camping trip. We recommend two litres per person, per day, with extra for backup. In hot, dry weather five litres per person per day is recommended. All facilities onsite use rainwater, but this is untreated and not suitable for drinking.

Can my friends arrive at different times to me?

Yes. Just let us know your group will be arriving at different times.

We will send you the directions to your campsite prior to arrival – simply pass these on to friends who are arriving separately.

Is there phone coverage/internet on the property?

Wanderlust is located in a remote area, so there is very little phone reception. There are a couple of places where phones pick up Telstra reception, and the top of the ridge sometimes gets Vodafone and Optus signals, but this is not reliable.

There’s internet access via high-speed Starlink around reception and the facilities block. We are happy to provide log-in codes for a gold coin donation.

Are generators allowed?

We only allow inverter generators in order to prevent noise issues for other camps.

Is there anywhere to dispose of waste (toilet waste, or general rubbish)?

In the interest of keeping Wanderlust pristine, we ask that you take all waste with you – this includes all rubbish (as we don’t have a bin service in our area) and waste from chemical/portable toilets. Our staff are happy to collect bottles/ cans as part of our eco-waste solution.

Can I request a particular campsite?

If you see a site you love on the website, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to book it for you. However, please understand we cannot guarantee that your requested site will be available if another guest has booked it.

Can my friends book separately?

We ask that only one booking is made per group. This is to avoid a camping party being separated.

I’ve booked a campsite but now more friends want to come. How do I update my booking?

Simply get in touch with any changes you’d like to make, and we will adjust your booking accordingly. The difference in the booking total will be automatically charged to your credit card (supplied with the original booking).

My friends have pulled out at the last minute. How do I update my booking?

Contact us with an updated number of attendees. The difference in the booking total will be subject to our Cancellation Policy, or can be credited towards another item (e.g firewood/ your next visit).

What if I don’t know how many people will be attending?

Book the campsite for those you know will definitely be coming in order to secure the campsite, and then contact us closer to the date to finalise numbers. You can also add a note in your booking that you’re expecting more people. Campsites are assigned a week prior to check-in, so please try to ensure numbers are reasonably close to accurate so we can ensure you get a site large enough to accommodate your group.

How do my friends know where to go on arrival?

Let them know the site number you’ve booked/ been allocated – we will provide a map of the property beforehand so you can share it with them.

What type of vehicle do I need to access the property?

Wanderlust is accessible to all vehicles. There is a four-kilometre dirt road leading to the property that is well serviced and flat. We ask that you drive appropriately for the conditions (and your vehicle) and slowly as there are cattle in the surrounding paddocks.
